Conditions of Entry - Worthing Light Festival 2022

THE ENTRANT
​
Can enter any artwork. The artwork must be designed to withstand 48 hours on the beach. The entrant must show how it is tethered to the beach - it can be windy at times. The entrant must illuminate the artwork with renewable energy - all forms will be considered.

The Light Festival will run from on the second weekend of September. There are two categories: Artist/Collective and Community Group/School.

Undertakes that the work is of his/her/their own origination, and that he, she or they hold all moral and intellectual property rights in that work. For Moving Image, you must confirm that copyright permission has been approved, where applicable.
By entering, the entrant accepts that any art work, if chosen, that the organisers will not be liable for any loss or damage to the said art work, however caused, either in transit to and from the judging / exhibition, or during any period of storage, packing or unpacking, or in any period in which the work is in their keeping. There will be security to minimise risk.
All artists are responsible for installing their installation with the final approval of our safety officer. All installations that do not meet our strict health and safety criteria will be refused. If selected you will be given guidelines on our health and safety criteria.

Is strongly advised that entrants take out their own commercial insurance to cover the work in transit (two-ways) and during the exhibition period. The Worthing Light Festival accepts NO responsibility for damage to entrants' artworks in transit or during the time of the competition/exhibition.

Accepts that if they are VAT registered, this additional VAT sum should also be included in the price of the work, stated by the artist on the Submission Form.

Upon registering and entering this competition entrants agree that WLF may reproduce their work (at no fee and not for resale) only in association with the competition & exhibitions (including press/publicity/website & catalogue and any other printed material, flyers, postcards and posters advertising the WLF exhibitions and future entries).

Agrees to be placed on our mailing lists for our newsletters and any other information that we may send you, for the duration of the competition in the year of registration. Entrant's personal details will be kept confidential and not be passed to third parties.
MOVING IMAGE – will be considered but it must be run by renewable energy / 12V battery.

The image submitted must be true to the artwork (try to avoid unnecessary background), although your work may be photographed professionally to help you submit a high-quality image. Diagrams are allowed.

All images of works must be saved in a jpg format.
​
All images should ideally be about 2MB and a high-resolution image should be 300dpi. Images must not be smaller than 250KB.
Smaller images and low resolution images will not display well for the judging process.
​
The image(s) must be submitted via email. If you are unable to submit online we will accept images on a CD, clearly labelled with the completed registration information and contact details. Please do not send any artwork to this address.

The image(s) and artist information must be submitted online by the closing date of 31st August 2022. Entries received late will be invalid unless the competition is extended for any reason then entries received after the new extended will be accepted.
Friday Set up must be before 12 noon. Take down after noon on the Sunday. NOTE failure to remove your work on Sunday 12th September after midday will result in your work being removed and given away.

In the event of extremely bad weather conditions, the event may be postponed. This information can only be given 10 days before Set-up date.
